While the U.S. provides general guidance through the FDA and AAFCO, Canadian producers voluntarily follow the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), which are enforced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and, provincially, by OMAFRA. These regulations demand detailed traceability, hazard control, and inspection-ready facilities, standards comparable to those required for human food.
Our production facility is HACCP-certified by Bureau Veritas and CFIA Export Approved, confirming that every batch we produce meets internationally recognized food safety requirements.

Our Layered Approach to Food Safety
Raw Pack follows a multi-hurdle safety system, a series of protective steps designed to keep our food safe and consistent without sacrificing its natural integrity. Rather than depending on a single “kill step,” we combine sourcing standards, temperature control, pathogen reduction, and strict sanitation practices to create a clean and trustworthy final product.
1. Responsible Ingredient Sourcing
We partner exclusively with CFIA- and OMAFRA-inspected suppliers that provide human-grade ingredients. Each supplier must pass our verification process confirming that they meet or exceed all provincial and federal food safety regulations before a single ingredient enters our facility.
2. Cold Chain Integrity
From delivery to packaging and transport, our entire process operates under a strict temperature-controlled system. Maintaining this cold chain prevents bacterial growth and locks in the nutritional value and freshness that raw food is known for.
3. Natural Pathogen Control
To add an additional safeguard, Raw Pack uses bacteriophages, natural, food-safe antimicrobials approved by the CFIA for use in human food.
These microscopic “phages” specifically target and neutralize harmful bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria monocytogenes, without affecting beneficial nutrients or probiotics. They are considered a clean-label intervention, leaving no chemical residue, no altered taste, and no compromise in quality.
In controlled testing, bacteriophages consistently deliver a 2–3 log reduction (up to 99.9%) in targeted pathogens, striking the ideal balance between food safety and nutritional integrity.
